Self-taught and instinctively creative, Jo Cardiff paints with the sensibility of a designer. After years spent in the UK property world, she approaches each piece with a whole-room perspective—art that doesn’t just hang on a wall, but anchors a space.

Her work moves between urban, architectural forms with a nod to Cubism, and more emotive pieces shaped by memories from her travels. The palette, the shapes, the quiet moments between them—each canvas carries its own sense of place.

With more than two decades of painting behind her, Jo has exhibited in Wellington and was a regular at Auckland’s annual ARTWORKS exhibitions. Today, her latest works can be seen at exclusively at Gingers.

ARTWORK - Composition with Green

A form taking inspiration from the Cubist style which emphasized the flat, two-dimensional surface of the picture plane, rejecting traditional techniques of perspective, foreshortening, modeling, and chiaroscuro and refuting time-honored theories that art should imitate nature.
